NYLAG seeks a highly motivated, full-time, temporary paralegal to support immigrant protection work. The role involves interpreting for USCIS/immigration proceedings, client intake, and data management in a hybrid setting.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.
• Fluency in Spanish or other community language required.
• 1–3 years immigration experience preferred.
• Strong collaboration, communication, multitasking and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with immigrant communities of color and LGBTQIA+ communities.

Aufgaben

• Serve as primary interpreter for unit attorneys and case handlers for asylum/USCIS interviews and court hearings under supervision.
• Pre-screen clients for basic eligibility; track contacts and collect documents.
• Screen clients for eligibility for immigration relief.
• Assist clients in gathering documents, completing forms, and following up via phone/email.
• Support preparation for clinics and outreach, including scheduling and attendance.
• Manage data entry in internal/external systems.
• Provide referrals to financial counseling and wraparound services.
