Job summary

Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland is seeking a bilingual (Spanish or Haitian Creole) coordinator for the Maryland Immigrant Legal Assistance Project (MILAP) to expand access to immigration legal services for residents of Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The role involves facilitating volunteer services at clinics, coordinating interpreters, supporting attorneys with casework, and tracking program impact while collaborating with partners and the MILAP team.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole is required.
• Bachelor's Degree, paralegal or law-related experience preferred.
• Experience in community organizing/outreach and/or public outreach.
• Must be available some evenings and weekends for clinics on the Eastern Shore.
• Access to reliable transportation for travel to PBRC offices and outreach sites 1–2 times per month.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with children and/or immigrant communities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate volunteer legal services for immigrants in removal proceedings during clinics, connecting seekers with volunteer attorneys and mentors.
• Conduct brief presentations.
• Support attorneys offering pro se legal assistance or full-scope representation by collecting evidence and completing forms under supervision.
• Track and summarize data related to clients and clinic effectiveness.
• Share referral information and resources with immigrants seeking help.
• Increase community awareness of resources and programs.
• Develop and maintain a network of community partners with MILAP team.
• Coordinate interpreter volunteer sign-ups and assess interpreter fluency.
• Provide support to the Project Director for grant reporting duties.
