Job summary

The Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, Inc. (PBRC) seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator for the Maryland Immigrant Legal Assistance Project (MILAP) to increase access to immigration legal services on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The role requires fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole and regular in-person outreach with community partners. The position focuses on outreach, referrals, appointments, and volunteer recruitment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in either Spanish or Haitian Creole is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Experience in community organizing, outreach, or public engagement is preferred.
• Some evenings and weekends for outreach events are required.
• Access to reliable transportation for travel to PBRC locations on the Eastern Shore.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for MILAP, including service-seekers, volunteers, and stakeholders.
• Share referral information and resources with immigrants seeking legal help.
• Coordinate appointments and assess eligibility for services.
• Assess language fluency of volunteers for interpretation and translation.
• Assist with recruitment of volunteers, including attorneys and students.
• Draft outreach communications using Outlook and Mailchimp.
• Develop a network of community partners and present to educators and community groups.
• Provide presentations about resources and updates to community organizations.
• Track data related to outreach activities and outcomes.
• Support PBRC clinics in Baltimore City and Hyattsville as needed.
