Job summary

America's Best in Watchung, New Jersey is hiring a part-time Optometric Technician / Medical Assistant who is bilingual in English and Spanish. You will support the optometrist with pre-screenings, testing, and patient flow to ensure efficient visits.

No optical experience is required; full training is provided. Compensation ranges from $15.92 to $18.33 per hour, with Sundays off and a benefits package including 401k, parental leave, eyewear discounts, and a college scholarship program.

Qualifications

• Fluent in reading and speaking English and Spanish.
• Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge.
• Able to give instruction to customers clearly and concisely.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of the office and pre-test room.
• Explain to the patient the types of preliminary examinations.
• Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Review prescriptions and patient information, identify special needs and consult with staff when necessary.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained.
