Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking an administrative support professional to assist the Advanced Medical Genetics Practice. You will coordinate patient care, manage appointments, document in the EMR, and serve as liaison between families and the genetics team.

Proficiency in Spanish is required; the role emphasizes organization, independent work, and timely communications with labs and providers.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's preferred; in lieu of Bachelor's, 3–5 years related experience.
• Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing) is required.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, reliable and able to work independently with good prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Manage/schedule all interactions/appointments for patients with Metabolic Disorders based on protocol or medical need.
• Document activities related to the patient in the electronic medical record.
• Act as liaison between patients/families and the Medical Genetics team.
• Prepare follow-up lab requisitions and communicate with families.
• Collect results and visit reports from outside labs and providers.
• Advocate for IMDC families, especially Spanish-speaking, to assure optimum care.
• Obtain insurance authorization for enteral formulas, medications, and visits.
• Send provider letters with lab results when appropriate.
• Update EMRs with pertinent information for IMDC patients, including new referrals.
• Create/modify documents to support patient management.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
