Job summary

Children's Health is seeking a Spanish Medical Interpreter in Dallas, TX, within the Language Access Services department. The role involves face-to-face, phone, or video interpretation of healthcare information for Spanish-speaking patients and families, in coordination with healthcare providers and other care teams.

The position requires interpreting experience (or a Bachelor's in Interpretation/Translation) and relevant interpreter certifications, with responsibilities including accurate

Qualifications

• At least 1 year job-related experience or Bachelor's degree in Interpretation/Translation.
• 40-hour or more healthcare, community or legal interpreter training.
• Associates Degree preferred; High School required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interprets medical information from physicians, nurses, or staff to Spanish-speaking patients/families in consecutive or simultaneous mode.
• Obtain patients’ signatures when appropriate and inform staff about cultural issues/needs of Spanish-speaking patients.
• Maintain accurate encounter records in the Language Access Services EPIC scheduling system.
• Assist with department activities and special projects as assigned; may provide services outside normal hours.
• Meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description.

40-hour+ Healthcare Interpreter Training

Associates Degree preferred
