Job summary

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 60 hours interpreter training or national certification, and fluency in English plus one language such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus basic training.
• Minimum 60 hours Medical Interpreter Course or National Certification per language.
• Fluency in English and one or more foreign languages (Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole).

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation face to face, over the phone, and by video.
• Relate medical information between languages following policies and patient confidentiality.
• Assist with interpreter scheduling and on-the-job training.
• Arrange interpreter services and coordinate translation needs as required.
• Support department operations and outreach activities.
