Qualifications

• Minimum six months of experience as a medical interpreter in a health setting.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and designated language.
• Certification in medical interpretation preferred or ideally completed within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, comprehensive, and professional medical interpreting services.
• Recognize and adjust to the complexity of clinical encounters relative to language barriers and clarify as needed.
• Use culturally appropriate behavior to determine when to clarify or interject.
• Advocate for the patient to ensure best clinical outcomes.
• Maintain records, reports, and statistics for the department.
• Coordinate with the management team and support departments as assigned.
