Job summary

The Medical Interpreter delivers accurate interpretation for clinical care, acting under nurse supervision and coordinating with staff to ensure culturally sensitive communication. A Bridging the Gap certificate or national credential is required, with flexibility for translation tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of medical interpretation experience
• Completion of the Bridging the Gap program or national certification required
• Flexibility to assist with additional assignments, including translation, as needed
• Requires high level of oral and written fluency in English and target language
• Knowledge of diverse medical terminology in English and target language

Responsibilities

• Provides support to LOE patients, families, and medical staff providing care.
• Assists designated patients and provides support to the care team under the direction of the clinical nurse.
• Serves as the liaison between clinical, medical staff and patients and/or families.
