Job summary

Metroplex Care Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a primary care setting. You will greet and room patients, record vital signs, update medical histories, assist with examinations and minor procedures, administer injections, and manage referrals and coordination of care.

You will also handle front-office duties such as scheduling and patient communication, while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent experience.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program preferred.
• Proficiency in performing administrative tasks related to patient care management.
• Knowledge of basic life support techniques and emergency response protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with patients of all ages.
• Attention to detail and organization for accurate records and multiple tasks.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally in the medical field.
• Proficiency in front desk operations with customer support experience.
• 1 Saturday rotation per month may be required.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for visits per MMC protocol, obtaining vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, and allergies.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms with proper equipment.
• Assist providers with examinations, diagnostic testing and minor procedures; ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed.
• Perform point-of-care testing, EKGs, spirometry, and other clinical tasks.
• Provide billing support with accurate entry of charges and coding assistance.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
• Document patient information in the EHR accurately.
• Follow infection control and OSHA standards, including PPE usage.
• Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and processing for lab testing.
• Support administrative tasks: scheduling, patient records, faxes, calls/messages.
• Assist with referrals, authorizations, and prescription refills; participate in quality improvement meetings.
