Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Inc. (TVHC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a broad range of patient services with emphasis on quality of care and customer service. The MA will collaborate with Clinical services staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or GED), or trade certificate.
• Clinical Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school is required.
• Bilingual; English/Spanish preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties.
• Provides information to Clinic callers according to Clinic policies and procedures; transfers calls as needed.
• Welcomes and greets patients/visitors to the department in a helpful and friendly manner.
• Schedules patient flow to the clinic based on predetermined appointment arrangements.
• Screen patients for new address, new patient visits or updated registrations when scheduling.
• Adheres to Clinic safety and security policies; safeguards keyless entry codes and passwords.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions.
• Keeps waiting areas and front desk organized and clean.
• Informs patients of balances and collects payments when due.
• Calls patients to confirm next day’s appointment.
• Verifies payment method and processes payments as appropriate.
• Handles complaints with diplomacy; escalates when needed.
• Attends department meetings.
• Contributes to EHR/EPM implementation support.
