Job summary

St. Ambrose School in Annandale, Virginia seeks a bilingual Librarian to join our faculty and help launch the first Catholic bilingual (Spanish–English) school library in the Diocese of Arlington.

The role supports biliteracy, Catholic identity, and global awareness for PreK–8 students. Responsibilities include building a Spanish-language collection, restoring off-site materials, and collaborating with teachers to foster literacy and research across grade levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; coursework or degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
• Experience working in a school or educational setting preferred.
• Familiarity with elementary and middle school literacy and research instruction.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement a library program aligned with Diocese of Arlington curriculum standards.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy, research, and inquiry-based learning.
• Curate and manage a balanced library collection reflecting Catholic values and cultural diversity.
• Reestablish and organize the existing library collection currently held in off-site storage.
• Develop and expand a high-quality Spanish-language collection to support biliteracy and global awareness.
• Promote responsible digital citizenship and ethical information use.
• Support the integration of Catholic identity through library resources and instruction.
• Assist in planning for the opening and operation of the new library space.
