Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; coursework or degree in Library Science or related field preferred.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

St. Ambrose Catholic School seeks a bilingualLibrarian to join our faculty during an exciting season of growth and transformation. This position offers a unique opportunity to help launch and shape the first Catholic bilingual (Spanish–English) school library in the Diocese of Arlington, as St. Ambrose breaks ground this year on a newly constructed library space.

St. Ambrose is the only Catholic dual language Spanish–English immersion school in the Commonwealth of Virginia, serving students in grades PreK–8. Students receive50% of instruction in Spanish and 50% in English, and the library program plays a vital role in supporting biliteracy, academic research, Catholic identity, and global consciousness.

Position Overview

The Librarian is responsible for developing and implementing a school library program aligned with the Diocese of Arlington Library Curriculum Guidelines, supporting instruction across grade levels, and collaborating with faculty to foster a love of reading, inquiry, and responsible information use. The Librarian will also lead the restoration of the school’s existing collection currently in off-site storage and intentionally build a Spanish-language collection that supports biliteracy and cultural understanding.

Position Details

• Part-time position with the possibility of becoming full time depending on school needs and applicant skills
• Schedule and hours to be determined based on school needs
• Compensation commensurate with experience and diocesan guidelines

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $25 to $28 Per Hour
