Job Description

Job Description : St. Thomas More Cathedral School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Library Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an educational environment where every child can excel academically, grow spiritually, and develop socially, while also being an active participant in our school community. The Librarian fulfills the Mission of St. Thomas More Cathedral School by planning, guiding, and evaluating the effectiveness of the school library and media center.

Key Responsibilities :

• Instruction : Teach elementary-level students according to the curriculum standards in the Diocese of Arlington, integrating faith and Christian morals into instruction.
• Faith Formation : Incorporate Catholic teachings into daily lessons and classroom activities, guiding students in prayer and developing their relationship with Christ. Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Classroom Management : Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment, maintaining discipline and fostering a love for learning.
• Collaboration : Work closely with other teachers, staff, and school leadership to implement school-wide initiatives and support students' academic and spiritual development. Provide library services and materials to meet the needs of teachers and students.
• Parental Involvement : Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements, fostering a strong partnership between home and school.
• Professional Growth : Participate in ongoing professional development, staying current with educational trends, best practices, and Catholic education principles.
• Administration : Select and order books, periodicals, vertical file material, picture collections, appropriate computer programs, and materials for professional collection with approval of the principal.

Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in education or related field and Virginia state licensure, or the ability to obtain VCEA certificaton. Salary is competitive and based on experience. Strong commitment to Catholic education and the mission of St. Thomas More. Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in a Catholic school setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary range: Compensation is based on a step pay scale that provides pay based on degree level and years of teaching experience, ranging from $44,500 for Bachelors with less than 3 years of teaching experience to $52,000 for Masters with 10 years of teaching experience, with proration for positions scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week.STM also offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus, a $3,000 Master's bonus and tuition discounts for children who attend the school.
