Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Labor & Industries is seeking a Communications Consultant 5 to lead strategic communication plans for LEP communities.

The role will build awareness of language access policies and collaborate with divisions to implement programs, ensuring clear, accessible information across languages. The position is based in Tumwater with hybrid telework up to two days per week, and requires a four-year degree in communications or public administration (or five years equivalent).

Qualifications

• Four year degree in communications or public administration or five years of equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of the Latino community and ability to establish and maintain close relationships with the Latino community.
• Ability to take action to learn and grow and to meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and direction in developing and implementing strategic communication plans, projects and events for LEP communities.
• Develop Language Access policies and plans and advise agency leadership on policy implementation.
• Coordinate translation of vital documents and ensure plain language before translations.
