Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a skilled interpreter/Language Services coordinator to support Spanish/English interpretation and translation for patients and families. You will coordinate interpretive services, ensure language access, and collaborate with Language Service Associates and ASL interpreters across departments.

Requirements include at least two years of Spanish/English interpretation, a bachelor's degree in languages or a related field, and strong medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience with Spanish/English verbal interpretation and written translation.
  • Bachelor's degree in languages, health care or related field.
  • Familiarity with Hispanic cultures and customs.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and the colloquial equivalents.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate interpretive services and resources to guarantee access for patients with language needs.
  • Serve as liaison for Language Service Associates and ASL interpreters within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and hospital guidelines and regulations.
  • Coordinate departmental workflows for daily operations; may work in production as required.
