Job summary

Nebraska Medicine in Omaha is seeking a bilingual interpreter/translator to support Spanish/English patients and families. You will coordinate interpretation services, serve as a liaison for Language Service Associates and ASL interpreters, and ensure compliance with hospital guidelines.

Must have strong medical terminology and excellent communication skills. Two years’ experience in interpretation and translation, plus a Bachelor's degree in languages or related field, are required.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience with Spanish/English interpretation and written translation.
  • Bachelor's degree in languages, health care or related field.
  • Familiarity with Hispanic cultures and customs.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and the colloquial equivalents.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate language interpretation services to ensure access for patients regardless of language proficiency.
  • Serve as liaison for Language Service Associates and the American Sign Language Interpreters within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and hospital guidelines and regulations.
  • Coordinate departmental workflows for daily operations. Must work in production as required.
