Job summary

La Causa, Inc. Charter School is seeking a School Substitute Teacher for grades K5–8.

The role involves planning and delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction in a safe classroom, supporting continuity of instruction when the regular teacher is absent, and working bilingual in English/Spanish when required. You’ll contribute to a positive learning environment, participate in meetings and professional development, and help students’ academic and social-emotional growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license or ability to obtain an emergency license within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with families and/or classroom experience.
• Bilingual Spanish and English highly desirable.
• Ability to work respectfully with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
• Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with logical reasoning.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must pass TB and drug testing, background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of program curriculum.
• Administer multi-level assessments per policy.
• Follow legal, organizational, and educational policies and standards.
• Implement instructional activities suitable for assigned grade levels.
• Develop and submit lesson plans as directed.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
• Ensure student safety and respond to drills and emergencies.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness when working with diverse backgrounds.
• Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities for suspected child abuse.
• Attend required meetings and professional development.
• Contribute as a collaborative team member.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
