La Causa, Inc. Charter School in Milwaukee, WI seeks a School Substitute (K5–8) Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and maintain a safe, engaging classroom.

This full-time 10-month role supports continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating curriculum, assessments, and lesson plans, while fostering a respectful, inclusive classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Wisconsin DPI teaching license or ability to obtain an emergency license within 30 days of hire; candidate must apply for the license within two weeks of the date of hire.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with families and/or classroom experience required.
• Bilingual Spanish and English highly desirable.
• Ability to demonstrate cultural intelligence and work respectfully with individuals and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
• Strong organizational, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement, and evaluate program curriculum in accordance with policies and procedures established by the agency, contractor, State, or other applicable entity.
• Administer multi-level assessments and evaluations, as applicable to monolingual or bilingual instruction, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Follow all applicable legal, organizational, and contractual requirements, laws, policies, and educational standards.
• Implement instructional activities appropriate to the assigned grade level and student needs.
• Develop and submit lesson plans as directed.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment that promotes student learning and well-being.
• Ensure student safety and respond appropriately to fire drills, emergency situations, and other safety procedures.
• Establish and maintain positive communication and cooperation with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and respect when working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities for suspected child abuse in accordance with current laws, policies, and procedures.
• Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Contribute as a collaborative and supportive team member.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
