Job summary

Providence School District is seeking a Coordinator of Interpreting and Translation Services to bridge communication gaps across the district and schools. The role translates documents between English and Spanish, coordinates written and oral translation for parent and community meetings, and supports district communications.

The position, a 12-month non-union role, reports to the Executive Director of Student Support.

Qualifications

• Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish)
• Expertise at written translation (English–Spanish)
• Strong written and oral communication in English and Spanish
• Experience with Google Docs
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word required; Outlook/Teams/Excel; preferred)
• Experience with CMS for website updates
• Experience with Mass Notification System
• Experience using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite in translation workflow
• Proficiency in using social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Constant Contact) for community engagement
• Knowledge of communications planning and scheduling
• Knowledge of Providence and community resources (preferred)
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Must be able to travel across 37 schools

Responsibilities

• Translate or coordinate translation of District documents with Communications and FACE
• Develop and coordinate translation for District social media channels
• Create and distribute monthly newsletters in multiple languages
• Create flyers for initiatives with PPSD team; ensure brand consistency
• Translate materials including signage and brochures for initiatives
• Explore opportunities to engage parents and community members
• Translate written context between Spanish and English for publications and communications
• Coordinate interpretation at school and district meetings and events
• Coordinate translation/interpreting with school administrators
• Provide interpretation for district staff in media interviews
• Facilitate translation for school-to-home communications software
• Maintain records of translation activities and requests
• Act as liaison to provide interpretation services at events during school hours and after
• Interact with professionals, staff, families in English and Spanish
• Adhere to federal/state/local guidelines for all students with disabilities
• Perform additional duties as assigned
