Position Details

Title: Bilingual Instructional Support Teacher (2025-2026SY)

Location: West Belden 2245 N McVicker Ave, Chicago, IL 60639

Reports To: Principal

Salary: Starting at $65,390, commensurate with experience

Employee Type: Regular Full Time

Start Date: August 2025

Position Overview

Distinctive teachers cultivate a love for learning through strong relationships, high expectations, and a belief that all students can achieve great things. Teachers focus on engaging instruction, aligned to standards, using the core curriculum, with ongoing assessments and adjustments. The Bilingual Teacher provides personalized academic and language instruction to English Learners in English and Spanish, supporting biliteracy and language development.

Responsibilities
Culture
  • Maintain a student-centered decision-making approach.
  • Foster a culture of belonging and build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Contribute to equity and culturally responsive practices.
Preparation, Instruction, and Assessment (90%)
  • Implement the DS Model and collaborate on lesson planning.
  • Administer language assessments and support culturally and linguistically diverse students.
  • Provide bilingual and ESL instruction, adapting curriculum as needed.
  • Utilize diverse instructional methodologies and monitor student progress continually.
Classroom Culture (10%)
  • Create an organized, welcoming environment.
  • Manage routines and build strong relationships.
  • Communicate effectively in students' preferred languages.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Valid Professional Educator License or equivalent (IL or MI).
  • Valid Bilingual Spanish Endorsement or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Spanish (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
Physical Demands

Occasional lifting, carrying, and other physical activities; primarily sitting, walking, and standing.
