Job summary

Pasco School District No. 1 is seeking an Instructional Paraeducator for Columbia River Elementary in Pasco, WA. The role involves assisting the teacher, managing classroom activities, and supervising students throughout the day on a 180-day calendar.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferences for bilingual abilities and paraeducator experience. New hires require fingerprint screening as part of the process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish), preferred.
• One or more of the following: Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher; 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in 100+ level courses; or passing score on the ETS paraeducator assessment.
• Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the-job experience preferred but not required.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred but not required.
• Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willingness to obtain.
• Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
• Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction.
• Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
• Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
• Provide support or supervision of students during arrival/departure, crosswalk duty, transit, recess, meals, hall monitoring, and wheelchair assistance.
• Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus routes.
• Assist with light cleaning and setting up activities.
• Attend annual required paraeducator certification training.
• Provide support administering tests or assessments as directed by teacher.
• Maintain accurate student records in the SIS.
• Translate information for students, staff, and guardians (Bilingual only).
• Assist with diapering, feeding, toileting, and lifting; extra pay per CBA.
