Job summary

The Canby School District is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Bilingual for a temporary position from August 24, 2026 through December 18, 2026. The role supports English Learners with bilingual instruction and interpretation in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers, translating documents, supervising students, and supporting language development across general education and ELD settings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 college credits required.
• Certification as highly qualified paraprofessional may substitute for education.
• First Aid/CPR certification required or willingness to obtain.
• Fluency in English and Spanish demonstrated through district assessments.
• Experience with children; bilingual interpretation/translation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide bilingual instructional support to English Learners in English and Spanish as appropriate.
• Support communication between staff and families through interpretation.
• Translate written documents to ensure access for non-English speaking families.
• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional plans and activities.
• Assist with routine tasks such as copying, organizing materials, and preparing resources.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills.
• Build respectful relationships with students and uphold classroom norms.
• Engage with students using trauma-informed and culturally aware approaches.
• Monitor and supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Maintain professional demeanor with students, staff, and families.
