Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at Columbus Bilingual West in Columbus, Ohio. The school serves EK-6th grade students in a language-rich learning community, with daily Spanish instruction and immersive cultural experiences.

The Instructional Aide supports teachers, promotes positive student behaviors, and helps ensure a safe, engaging classroom. The role includes clerical tasks and technology support, with opportunities to contribute to school activities and events.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, two years of college coursework, or passing the Paraprofessional’s Exam.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Successful completion of a BCI/FBI check.
• Ability to meet educational standards as applicable.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage confidential information.
• High quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift 25–40 lbs.
• Experience in a school or social services setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supports lessons taught by the teacher to individuals or groups and follows instructional plans.
• Helps plan classroom activities directed by the Teacher and supports the Teacher in student/parent relations.
• Assists with school activities (parent nights, meetings, assemblies, fundraisers, chaperoning, etc.).
• Performs clerical duties (grading papers, making copies).
• Assists the Teacher in the use of classroom technology.
• Maintains cleanliness of classroom, lunchroom and school areas.
• Understands and implements the school’s philosophy and mission in all activities.
• Performs other duties such as field trips and duty coverage.
