Job summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago seeks a Bilingual In School Mentoring Coordinator for Fairfield Academy. The role focuses on coordinating the ISM program logistics, onboarding, training and supervising mentors, and guiding enrollment, matching, and youth support.

This exempt position reports to the In School Mentoring Manager, requires fluency in Spanish and English, an Associate’s degree, 2+ years of related experience, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish and English is required.
• Associate’s degree and 2+ years relevant work experience.
• One to 2 years of supervisory experience a must.
• Prior program management or coordination preferred.
• Solid understanding of Mandated Reporter requirements.
• Experience with child development and family dynamics.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong commitment to quality and results.

Responsibilities

• Onboard, train and supervise ISM Mentors.
• Schedule, interview, assess and match youth with mentors.
• Hold information sessions with families and school staff.
• Provide child safety and risk management knowledge and policies.
• Maintain ongoing match support with coaching and resources.
• Coordinate school programming logistics and curriculum implementation.
• Monitor program participation and outcomes.
• Collaborate with in-school partners as appropriate.
• Conduct monthly check-ins with school point of contact.
• Fill in for ISM Mentors as needed.

Salary Range: $55K - $60K - Commensurate with work experience, degree credential(s) and Bilingual language skillset.

Position Summary

The In School Mentoring Coordinator will facilitate the ISM program logistics, including collaborating with the school administration, onboarding, training and supervising the program mentors, and coordinating the enrollment, matching and support of the youth in the program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supervising In School Mentoring Program Mentors.

Responsibilities

• Onboard, train and supervise ISM Mentors
• In conjunction with ISM Mentors, schedule, process, interview, assess and match (group and one-to-one) participating youth based on assessment recommendations
• Holdinformationsessionswithfamiliesandschoolstaffaboutprogram
• Providelearnedchildsafetyandriskmanagementknowledge, policies, and procedures to all aspects of job
• Conductqualitymatchsupportfortheparticipatingyouthandmentoronarolling,quarterlyscheduletoprovidecoaching, resources, and information to each participant as needed.
• Ensurelogisticsofschoolprogramming,including implementation of curriculumand program schedules in collaboration with school administration
• Monitorprogramparticipationandotherprogrammetrics to ensure the outcomes of the program are met
• Collaborate with other in school community partners, as appropriate
• Conductmonthlycheck-inswithschoolpointofcontact to ensure program is successful and fully integrates into the school culture and protocols

Qualifications

• A belief in the Mission and Vision of BBBS
• Ability to fluently speak Spanish and English is required
• Associate’s degree required and at least 2 years relevant work experience in related fields,such as social work, counseling, social services, child development, or education
• One to 2 years of supervisory experience a must
• Prior program management or coordination preferred
• Solid understanding about and willingness to perform as a Mandated Reporter
• Assessment and relational development experience with child and adult populations
• Understanding of child development and family dynamics.
• Experience working in diverse populations is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work both in team and independently exercising good judgment, make sound decisions & problem solving
• Ability to work with confidential information required
• A strong commitment to quality and results
• Strong computer skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Work, Outlook, Excel and internet-based applications
• Ability to collect meaningful data and draw solid conclusions

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment.

There is an expectation to work onsite five days a week.
