Job summary

YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is seeking a part-time HEALTHY WEIGHT & YOUR CHILD content leader (NIR FAMILY YMCA) in Wilmington, NC. The role delivers the standard curriculum, supports movement activities, and helps participants engage and set goals.

The position requires bilingual Spanish/English ability, CPR/First Aid certification within 1 month, and strong communication. Expect attendance tracking, program preparation, and collaboration with the Activity Leader for the full 16-week

Qualifications

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 1 month of hire.
• Must be flexible to work with adults and children.
• Strong communication skills and empathy for health seekers.
• At least 18 years of age and Listen First training or motivational interviewing proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Deliver program content according to YMCA guidelines and lesson plans.
• Encourage group participation with open-ended questions to ensure engagement.
• Build authentic relationships with children and adults and promote YMCA involvement.
• Create a friendly, non-competitive learning environment.
• Prepare class materials and reminders before each session.
• Provide access to participants before/after sessions to answer questions.
• Follow up with participants who cannot attend and support weekly goals.
• Refer participants to other YMCA programs when beneficial.
• Maintain attendance, goal tracking, and weight records within 48 hours.
• Arrive on time and dress appropriately for class.
• Foster healthy living behaviors holistically.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follow all policies and safety procedures; report incidents.
• Organize and store class equipment and report damages.
• Assist Activity Leader as needed and support participants.
