Job summary

Department of Human Rights is seeking a qualified Human Rights Mediator to manage mediation duties within the Mediation Program. The role requires mediation expertise, strong Spanish communication, and coordination of cases in a state agency setting.

The incumbent will facilitate disputes, translate materials into Spanish, and help organize mediation conferences while supporting policy improvements within the program. This is a union position with a hybrid in-office schedule.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
• One year of professional mediation experience or approved training.
• Mediator certification (40-hour program) from an approved certifying organization.
• Ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level.

Responsibilities

• Mediates approximately five DHR charges per week by communicating the availability and advantages of the Mediation Program.
• Translates discussions, procedures and documents into Spanish as needed.
• Organizes and prepares files for mediation conferences and logs in parties.
• Recommends, revises and implements substantive and administrative policies to assist in the operation of the Mediation Program.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of mediation responsibilities.
