Job summary

CAPSLO is seeking a Health & Nutrition Specialist to implement and monitor health, safety, and nutrition services for Early Education and Child Care programs in California. You will partner with staff, families, and community agencies to improve children’s health outcomes and promote wellness.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field, has supervisory or training experience, and provides pediatric first aid and CPR certificates within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Fluency in two or more languages.
• Supervisory or training/monitoring experience preferred in nutrition/child care/Head Start.
• CPR and pediatric first aid certificates required within 30 days of hire; renewal ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and nutrition content areas comply with HSPPS, licensing, and USDA programs.
• Monitor health status records for children from birth to five years; ensure EPSDT schedules are current.
• Oversee data entry into ChildPlus; perform QA and generate reports as needed.
• Conduct site visits to centers to ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
• Collaborate with county/state agencies and health providers to secure services for families.
• Provide health and nutrition education to children, caregivers, staff, and partners.
• Assist with health and safety policy development and staff training.
