Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking a part-time Health Information Management support role to assist the HIM department with technical and administrative tasks related to medical records.

The position requires three years of HIM or healthcare experience, bilingual English/Spanish, strong communication skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. Responsibilities include handling inquiries and ensuring data accuracy within approved guidelines.

Qualifications

• Three years Health Information Management or healthcare related work experience to include Hospital/clinic/physicians medical billing/insurance office.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
• Strong Customer Service Orientation.
• Knowledge of computer skills.
• Good overall knowledge of Health Information Systems practices, procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision of Health Information Manager provides technical and administrative support to the Health Information Management Department.
• Provides guidance and assistance to inquiries from public, Physicians and healthcare providers related to medical records. Performs duties within approved practices and exercises independent judgment within pre-determined guidelines.
