Job summary

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a compassionate Funeral Arranger for Skylawn Funeral Home in San Mateo to guide families through services with empathy, organization, and a personal touch. You will coordinate scheduling, vendors, and legal documents while maintaining meticulous records.

Requirements include bilingual English/Spanish, a high school diploma or GED, and strong communication skills. Training is available for those new to the funeral industry, with weekend availability and on-call

Qualifications

• Bilingual English & Spanish is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ year funeral industry experience preferred, we will train the right person.

Responsibilities

• Arrange and lead funeral and memorial services with professionalism, compassion, and respect for families.
• Manage all aspects of service planning, including scheduling, locations, transportation, and coordination with vendors.
• Prepare and file required legal documents (death certificates, permits) and work closely with cemeteries to arrange burials.
• Provide logistical support by driving funeral vehicles and delivering flowers, caskets, urns, and personal keepsakes.
• Provide evening on-call coverage as part of a rotating schedule to ensure timely response to urgent operational needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure family needs are met with care and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate client records and service documentation.
• Handle administrative tasks—including data entry, filing, and phone inquiries—with professionalism and attention to detail.
• Uphold compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing funeral service

Requirements:

• Previous experience in customer service or hospitality strongly preferred.
• Warm, professional presence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in computer applications (MS Office Suite, data entry systems).
• Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
• Strong multitasking skills; able to stay composed in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Confident speaking in front of groups and engaging with diverse communities.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 20 to 50 lbs.
• Flexible schedule with weekend availability.

Compensation:

$26- $29/hr. plus monthly bonus potential
