Job summary

EveryChild California is seeking a Family Services Specialist to recruit children, verify eligibility, orient parents to services, and refer families to community resources. The role collaborates with Center Supervisors to meet timelines and promote positive outcomes for children and families.

Ideal candidates have an AA/AS or BA/BS in related fields and at least 1 year of client casework; driving may be required depending on department needs.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree plus 1 year of client casework experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred for Level II.
• BA/BS degree plus 1 year of client casework experience for Level III.
• Experience in recruitment, eligibility verification, parent orientation, referrals, and health record maintenance.
• Driving may be required with a valid CA license, DMV record, and insurance; 21+ with 3 years driving for essential travel.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and enroll children into the program.
• Orient parents to comprehensive services including Health, Nutrition, Education, Disabilities, Mental Health, Parent Engagement, and ERSEA.
• Link Migrant and Seasonal Head Start families with referrals and community services.
• Serve as liaison for referrals; ensure services are beneficial and effective.
• Coordinate health, social, and educational services for children's learning and family well-being.
• Help families access health and dental care and encourage healthcare system involvement.
• Participate in health screenings and maintain health records.
• Know local social services and resources including health, mental health, nutrition, parenting, education, and job training.
• Plan monthly local parent committee meetings and support Parent Meetings with speakers and agendas.
• Encourage parent participation in program and community events; attend community collaborations.
• Maintain documentation of services and knowledge of database programs (e.g., ChildPlus).
