Job summary

Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) is seeking a Family Services Coordinator to support families in their time of grief, facilitate authorization for donation, and coordinate initial phases of the organ donation process. The role involves collaboration with administrators, physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to implement educational and quality programs related to donation.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, life sciences, social work, communications, or related fields preferred.
• Minimum two years organ procurement organization (OPO) or donation agency experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to organ donor referrals by traveling to donor hospitals to assess needs of potential donor families.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the Administrator on call and Family Services Supervisor.
• Communicate with physicians and health care team members about patient condition and family understanding.
• Increase authorization rates by offering therapeutic interactions to families.
• Educate hospital staff to facilitate the organ and tissue donation process.
• Provide donor family support on-site and via phone, maintaining confidentiality.
