Casa Myrna’s Legal Advocacy Program seeks a Bilingual Staff Attorney in Boston to provide legal services to survivors of domestic violence and related issues. The role reports to the Managing Attorney and supports immigration or family law matters.

The attorney conducts consultations, educates clients on options, represents survivors in 209A cases, and offers brief service with referrals. Fluency in an additional language is required.

Formación

• J.D. degree; admission to and good standing in the Massachusetts bar required.
• Spoken fluency in a second language required (with preference for Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole).
• Experience providing legal services to survivors of trauma, abuse or exploitation; some family law/immigration experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provides legal consultations to Casa Myrna program participants, community clients, and Legal HelpLine callers.
• Educates survivors about options to minimize risk and improve safety.
• Represents survivors in 209A proceedings in District Courts and handles immigration or family law cases.
• Provides brief service by assisting with legal advice and court documents; facilitates referrals.
• Advocates for clients in collateral legal matters such as housing and benefits.
