Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program seeks a Bilingual Family Advocate in Sycamore, IL to support families and DCFS alumni within the Family Advocacy Center framework. The role involves conducting intake, facilitating classes, and building connections for positive outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in Human Services, bilingual English/Spanish, and at least two years of relevant experience, with reliable transportation and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services required; Master’s preferred.
• Bilingual English and Spanish required.
• Minimum two years’ experience in case management, facilitation, and youth/family services.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Detail oriented, organized and dependable.
• Valid driver's license and reliable car access.

Responsibilities

• Perform work aligned with NYAP mission, values and programs.
• Facilitate Anger Management, Parenting and Financial Literacy classes.
• Schedule and conduct in person intake and assessment sessions.
• Assist parents/caregivers to strengthen family connections and communication.
• Provide support to families dealing with substance use and risky behaviors.
• Engage in community networking and outreach with agencies.
• Collaborate to create supportive programs for families.
• Provide referrals and advocate for families as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in line with guidelines.
• Schedule and conduct home visits; travel within served communities.
• Attend professional development trainings.
