Job summary

Make the Road New York (MRNY) is hiring an ESOL/Civics Instructor to teach contextualized English and Citizenship Prep. The role is 40 hours per week in Queens and Brooklyn, combining classroom teaching with student-centered methodology and program administration.

The position requires full bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, experience teaching Civics/ESOL, and strong digital literacy. Travel to MRNY offices is expected, with evenings/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the U.S.
• Fully bilingual (Spanish and English) REQUIRED
• Experience teaching Civics and ESOL classes
• Strong digital literacy with G-Suite, Microsoft Office, Box, Zoom, and Google Voice
• Occasional travel to MRNY offices
• Regular evenings and occasional weekends required.

Responsibilities

• Plan ESOL/Civics course outlines and unit/lesson plans, with materials
• Deliver ESOL and Citizenship prep classes adaptively to student levels
• Coordinate class intake, BEST Plus testing, and student assessments
• Support services connections through MRNY organizing committees
• Enter attendance and assessments in Salesforce and report progress
• Assist with administrative trainings and funder reporting
