Job summary

The Itinerant English as a Second Language (ESL) Bilingual Paraprofessional will support multilingual learners and families at sites with many non-English-speaking students. Working under the supervision of the ESL Specialist, you will assist school personnel with communication and may provide academic support.

The role requires counseling families in languages they understand, maintaining confidentiality, and participating in district family engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and at least one additional language (oral and written).
• High school diploma.
• Knowledge of educational terminology and procedures.
• Demonstrated aptitude and skills necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between school staff and families with interpretation and translation support.
• Provide accurate, confidential interpretation services during parent-teacher conferences, enrollment/registration, school events, and family workshops.
• Maintain confidentiality under FERPA and submit documentation of services.
• Perform other duties to support students and families and adhere to district policies and regulations.
