Job summary

Big Spring ISD in Big Spring, Texas is seeking a Bilingual/ESL Aide for the 5th & 6th Grade Campus (Big Spring Intermediate). The role supports the teacher with classroom activities, instructional materials, and supervision under a certified teacher.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, or higher education credits, and ability to work with children. Proficiency with basic office equipment and readiness to assist with testing, records, and daily school activities is expected.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED.
• (a) completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; or
• (b) obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or
• (c) meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal state or local assessment: knowledge of, and the ability in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assigned assignments.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
• Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist the teacher in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events, as needed.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Performs other duties as determined by the local school district.
