Job summary

Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking an Outreach and Enrollment Counselor to educate and assist clients enrolling in affordable health insurance through Covered California, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and CHIP, with additional CalFresh support.

The role requires coordinating visits across Escondido and Poway, occasional evenings/weekends for community events, and delivering enrollment assistance with a focus on access to healthcare resources.

Qualifications

• High school/GED required.
• Covered California certification required within 90 days of employment.
• One year of experience in government or community program eligibility/screening for Medi-Cal or Medi-Cal for families preferred.
• Certified Enrollment Counselor for Covered CA experience preferred.
• Valid CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach activities and presentations at school and community events such as health fairs, churches, farmers markets, grocery stores, and local businesses; events may be scheduled during weekday, evening or on weekends.
• Networks and establishes community relationships and partnerships.
• Maintains complete data for monthly reporting and meets monthly/end goals under grant contracts.
• Supports patient retention and new patient growth efforts.
• Presents health concepts to individuals and small groups.
• Disseminates information about affordable health insurance coverage to families and individuals.
• Provides enrollment assistance for Covered CA, Medi-Cal and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
