Job summary

Paramedic Billing is seeking an EMS Patient Account Representative who is Spanish bilingual to handle patient billing and insurance communications. You will verify insurance details, process claims, and resolve balances while maintaining compliance and accuracy across all records.

This role requires strong verbal communication, multitasking, and the ability to work with multiple monitors and office software in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• College preferred but not required.
• Minimum two years’ experience in customer care, account management or similar role.
• Ability to read and understand the Explanation of Benefits or Electronic Remittance Advice.
• Understands the difference between rejections and denials as well as working accounts.
• Healthcare knowledge is preferred.
• Fluency in Spancish is required.
• Ability to Multi-task and manage high call volumes.
• Positive, can-do attitude with good judgement to de-escalate.
• Ability to receive and implement feedback.
• Typing at least 45 WPM; office environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Places and receives calls regarding billing insurance questions and patient services.
• Process accounts to resolve balances per required action.
• Communicate with customers, agencies, facilities and hospitals.
• Use one-step resolution practices with open lines of communication.
• Research patient accounts to verify insurance coverage and audit billing.
• Screen emails, faxes and mail; ensure data entry accuracy.
• Collect outstanding balances and resolve discrepancies per policy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of insurance billing regulations.
• Complete tasks efficiently individually or in a group.
• Handle assigned correspondence as directed by management.
• Scan hospital faxes to update accounts; bill insurance by paper claims.
• Review patient mail and attach documents to accounts.
