Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Florida is seeking an English Language Learner paraprofessional to support scholars who are developing English proficiency. The role emphasizes accommodations, instruction support, and collaboration with classroom teachers under supervision.

The ideal candidate has at least 30 college hours and a willingness to pursue a Special Education Paraprofessional Certification. Bilingual abilities are highly valued, with experience in dual-language settings a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate degree or at least 30 college hours preferred.
• Experience with children with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
• Bilingual candidates or candidates with experience in dual language settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
• Assist in the implementation of individualized communication assistance including interpretive/translation services (ESOL/ELL) and communication board.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside of the classroom to enable them to participate fully in activities.
• Work with professionals such as speech therapist, social worker, occupational and physical therapists.
• Provide assistance in interpreting school program needs and pertinent information to parents in the home language.
• Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.
• Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and help develop appropriate social skills.
• Assist with daily school activities, such as note-taking, reading comprehension and grade tracking.
