Job summary

EDWARD BYROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Tualatin, Oregon, seeks an ELD Assistant (Spanish preferred) to support licensed teachers in delivering instructional programs for English language learners. The 0.25 FTE position runs from 8:30am to 10:30am, with a September 2026 start date and a 10-month employment window.

Under supervision, you will prepare materials, aid in English-language assessments, translate for families, and help manage classroom activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma reflecting reading, writing, speaking proficiencies in Spanish and English
• Two years of post secondary college education
• If candidate meets all other qualifications, except two years of post secondary education, they may be hired on condition when the Department of Education develops a proficiency test they will need to pass
• Hispanic culture and bilingual (prefer native Spanish-speaker)
• Oregon Driver's License or ability to get to work in a timely manner
• Associates Degree in Education is preferred
• Medic First Aid Card (must be certified within the first 60 days)

Responsibilities

• Assists in implementing instructional programs designed by the ELL and/or classroom teacher
• Provide translation support when needed
• Assist teachers in preparing and maintaining instructional materials and classroom environment
• Escort and monitor students in various environments (classroom, playground, buses, field trips)
