Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a bilingual English/Spanish paraprofessional to support language acquisition across designated subject areas, assisting with classroom activities and materials.

You will help students develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, coordinate with teachers, assess progress, and communicate with families in the home language; Berlitz proficiency exam is required; Colorado residence is essential.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.
• ELA-S paraprofessional positions require Berlitz proficiency exam.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Supports language acquisition by helping students develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
• Prepares and sets up educational materials.
• Provides computer-based reading/writing instruction for students below standard.
• Assists in assessing reading and writing abilities.
• Coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and staff and supports lesson plans.
• Presents material using lectures, computer-based instruction, discussions, or role-play.
• Assists individuals and small groups and reinforces concepts.
• Provides student performance feedback to students and teachers.
• Communicates with students and parents in their native language.
