Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a bilingual ELA-S paraprofessional to support English Language Acquisition in designated subject areas. You will assist with classroom activities, prepare instructional materials, and coordinate with teachers, students, and families in your native language.

Requirements include bilingual Spanish and English proficiency, completion of the paraprofessional qualifications guide, and the Berlitz proficiency exam for ELA-S paraprofessional roles.

Responsibilities

• Provides classroom assistance in language acquisition, helping students develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in designated subject areas.
• Prepares and sets up educational materials.
• Delivers computer-based reading and writing instruction for students below established levels.
• Assists in assessment of students’ reading and writing abilities.
• Coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and staff and supports lesson development.
• Presents subject matter to students under teacher supervision using various teaching methods.
• Assists individuals and small groups and reinforces learning concepts.
• Provides student performance feedback to students and teachers.
• Communicates with students and parents in native language about routine issues.
• Supervises and monitors students and reinforces school policies.
