Job summary

Denver Public Schools in Denver, CO seeks a passionate bilingual ELA-S Teacher to deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction for Spanish-speaking students. The role supports English language development while building subject matter knowledge in an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom.

You will collaborate with families and staff, use varied teaching strategies and technology, assess progress, and participate in tutoring or summer programs as outlined in the union agreement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s required only for Concurrent Enrollment positions).
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license or proof of application (CDE Receipt accepted for 90 days).
  • View license requirements by subject area
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Must pass a Spanish Language Proficiency (SLP) assessment.
  • Praxis II: Spanish World Language Exam (#5195) with a score of 163+ is also accepted.

  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and educational equity; actively works to dismantle systemic barriers and support all students equitably.
  • Must live and work from a permanent Colorado address.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and technology to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Monitor and support student behavior in alignment with school and district policies.
  • Assess, track, and report student progress in academic, behavioral, and social development.
  • Communicate regularly with families, staff, and school leaders to support student success.
  • Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials based on DPS curriculum and state standards.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as tutoring, coaching, or summer programs as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
