Job summary

Kalamazoo Public Schools seeks a Secondary Multilingual Paraprofessional at Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts for the 2025-2026 school year. The 10-month, full-time position includes an hourly rate of $17.82 and two positions available.

You will support English learners under the direction of multilingual and general education teachers, assist with language development, classroom tasks, and materials adaptation to create an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Provide instructional support to students with limited English proficiency.
• Assist with classroom tasks and maintain records.
• Support language development through targeted activities and one-on-one sessions.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually and in groups with lessons.
• Maintain a clean classroom environment and assist with routine tasks.
• Support English learners in developing language skills through targeted activities.
• Collaborate with teachers to support learners within the regular classroom setting.
• Promote a culturally inclusive environment and understanding of diverse backgrounds.
• Facilitate effective communication between teachers and English learners.
• Assist in creating and adapting instructional materials for language needs.
• Assist in administering assessments for language proficiency and progress.
• Monitor individualized learning plans for English learners.
• Engage with families to support student progress and involvement.
• Support inclusive classroom practices and ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
