Job summary

Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation seeks a Home Visitor for Early Head Start in Monona, IA. You will conduct weekly home visits, support parent groups, and document progress aligned with Family Partnership Agreements and Individual Child Plans.

Requirements include a CDA or equivalent, a BA/AA in Early Childhood Education preferred, and bilingual (Spanish/English) capability. Travel within the service area is frequent; vehicle use and reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish and English required; read, write, speak, interpret effectively.
• CDA credential is required at hire or must be completed upon hire.
• Computer experience is required; experience with low-income populations or accessing community resources is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly home visit services to Early Head Start families; travel extensively within the service area.
• Assist in providing educational programming/facilitation at parent meetings and play group experiences.
• Keep accurate records required by the program such as in-kind and lesson plans.
• Track, monitor and document progress of families served towards FPA, ICPs and Family Needs Assessments.
• Make referrals to appropriate agencies and assist families with transportation.
• Serve as a positive model for families.
• Work with parents to strengthen knowledge of child development through PAT curriculum activities.
• Provide education, health/dental health and nutrition information to those served.
• Support families in scheduling medical and dental appointments and assist with transportation.
• Plan and develop individualized programs with families, promoting mutual trust and respect.
• Compile statistical reports as required.
• Attend IFSP meetings when invited.
• Assist families to strengthen knowledge of community resources.
• Act as Mandatory Reporter of suspected child abuse/neglect.
• Attend at least 15 hours of in-service training each year.
