Wheeler Clinic seeks a Bilingual Crisis Clinician to provide crisis assessment and intervention services for children aged 0-17. This full-time role includes community-based services and requires a doctoral or master's degree in a relevant field, along with fluency in English and Spanish. The Bilingual Crisis Clinician provides crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization clinical and case management services for children from birth through age 17. The clinician will respond in the community to provide crisis intervention services and safety planning. May work with emergency departments, inpatient units, and congregate care providers to identify and coordinate crisis and diversionary planning for high-needs youth in need of intensive community-based planning to prevent multiple admissions to such settings and promote the use of MCIS to coordinate intensive plans for high-needs youth.
Starting salary: $65,000
Bilingual Stipend: $4,576 annually
Eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus! Half paid upon hire and half after one year.
Hartford, CT
Full-time, 40 hours a week. Two afternoon/night shifts per week required (2-10 pm and 11 am-7 pm). No on-call or weekend services.
Doctoral degree in Psychology or Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Counseling. Candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
Must hold one of the following credentials to start employment: LMSW, LCSW, LMFTA, LMFT, LPCA, LPC, or licensed/license-eligible Psychologist in Connecticut.
Valid Driver's License is required. Ability to operate a vehicle safely in the community, based on program needs.

Conduct program-specific screening, evaluation, and diagnosis per DSM. Develop individualized, measurable crisis and treatment plans in collaboration with clients/families and other relevant parties.
Demonstrate knowledge of psychopathology, crisis theory, behavioral health concerns, and psychotherapeutic modalities. Manage clinical emergencies and implement safety protocols. Use evidence-based practices and adhere to program expectations.
Provide mobile services in community settings outside the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals). Transport clients to appointments or linkages as needed.
Understand levels of care, referral processes, and resources. Make appropriate referrals promptly.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and providers. Attend required meetings.
Coordinate with emergency departments, inpatient units, and care providers for crisis planning and system issues impacting service utilization.
Assist in providing follow-up care and stabilization for high-needs youth, in collaboration with team members and leadership.
Meet productivity goals, adhere to practice standards, and document all client interactions per agency policies.
Attend training, supervision, and continue professional development, including cultural competence.
