Family Crisis Center seeks a Bilingual Advocate to provide on-site crisis intervention and survivor-centered advocacy in Spencer, IA, serving multiple counties. The role emphasizes language access, coordination of services, and collaboration with medical, law enforcement, and community partners.

The advocate will interpret in Spanish/English, respond to referrals, accompany survivors to exams and interviews, and maintain confidential case records while upholding ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or equivalent professional/personal experience.
• Experience in crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or case management preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English required; read/write/speak/interpret in both languages.

Responsabilités

• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and survivor-centered support in medical and community settings.
• Provide interpretation/translation in Spanish and English as needed during client interactions and outreach.
• Manage incoming crisis calls and walk-ins; complete intakes, service logs, and referrals.
• Educate survivors on dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and available resources; develop partnerships for referrals.
• Attend trainings; maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies; travel as needed.
