Morrow County Public Health in Boardman, OR seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator to provide bilingual health outreach, client navigation, interpretation/translation, and education to Spanish-speaking communities. The role supports clinics, offices, schools, and community sites, helping connect individuals with essential public health services.

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Public Health Director and with guidance from Public Health clinical staff, the Community Outreach Coordinator provides bilingual community health, outreach, client navigation, interpretation/translation, health education, and administrative support for Morrow County Public Health programs and services. Serves as a liaison between Public Health and community members, with an emphasis on improving access to services for Spanish-speaking individuals and families.
This position works in a variety of settings, including Public Health clinics and offices, client homes, schools, community organizations, and other community locations. The position may conduct or participate in home visits and may work with individuals who have or may have been exposed to communicable or infectious diseases.
The position works closely with Public Health nurses, providers, and other staff to support clinic operations, client communication, community outreach, preventive health activities, and assigned Public Health programs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provide accurate and effective verbal interpretation and written translation between English and Spanish for Public Health clients, staff, and community members.
Provide interpretation services during Public Health Clinics, including scheduled Family Planning clinics and other clinical services as assigned.
Assist clients with navigating Public Health programs and services and connect individual's and families with appropriate community resources.
Support Public Health clinical staff with client coordination, appointment-related communication, and other activities that facilitate access to care.
Conduct community outreach and health promotion activities designed to increase awareness and utilization of Public Health programs and services.
Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate health education and information to individuals, families, and community groups.
Serve as a liaison between Public Health and Spanish-speaking members of the community to strengthen communication, trust and access to services.
Assist with outreach activities, educational events, health fairs, and other community-based public health activities.
Assist with completion of forms, documentation, referrals, and other administrative tasks as appropriate and within the scope of the position.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality of client information and comply with applicable privacy requirements and County policies.
Assist with maintaining accurate documentation related to client contacts, outreach activities, interpretation services, and program activities.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with County departments, community organizations, health care providers, and other partners.
Participate in training and professional development necessary to maintain required certifications and competencies.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's degree in public health, health education, human services, social services or a related field preferred.
Experience
One (1) year related experience preferred.
Experience providing interpretation or translation services in a medical, health care, social service or public health setting preferred.
Experience providing health education, community outreach, client navigation, or similar services is desirable.
