Job summary

Berks County Public Defender's Office is seeking a part-time Client Services Coordinator intern to assist the Chief and defense team with administrative duties, case investigation support, and mitigation report preparation. The role includes translating evidence from Spanish to English when needed.

The position requires an active undergraduate enrollment in relevant fields and experience with databases and word processing, plus strong English communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an undergraduate program in Political Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Languages, or related field.
• Prior experience with database programs and word processing.
• Customer service experience with public and professional interaction, in person or by phone.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with attorneys, clients, and agencies regarding Public Defender clients and investigations.
• Maintains a calendar of significant dates and tracks statistics on clients aided.
• Prepares documents and correspondence for representation, including language interpretation.
• Observes and assists in case investigation and in preparation of mitigation reports.
• Assists with translation between Spanish and English when needed.
• Operates office equipment and answers telephone inquiries.
• Supports CSC staff and coordinates with management as required.
